Research has shown that music has a variety of healing properties. Engaging in listening, composing, and playing music can have tremendous benefits for individuals suffering a range of maladies. From decreasing post-operative pain and healing time, to lessening the symptoms of Parkinson’s, music has been seen to help the healing of both mental and physical traumas. This paper provides a brief introduction into the many ways that music can be used to promote healing and wellness; from rock’n’roll to classical concertos-the restorative power of music is truly remarkable.
